Dear Reader,
I am starting, with the help of friends, to find the HTML for my website. We only have about a week and a half so I don't know if I will be able to finish this project :(
So now I am going to start working with the HTML to create my website that is the main part of this whole project.
NOTE: If you have any HTML codes or suggestions that I could use with Bluefish, then please comment the code to this post. Thanks!

Some Briliant Information That I Have Found
Dear Reader,
I have found the definition of Marine Biology: "marine biology is the study of life in the oceans and other saltwater environments such as estuaries and wetlands" (What is Marine Biology?)
I have also found that there are smaller fields that make up Marine biology. They include:
Health of the oceans/planet
Also, believe it or not, there are different ways to study Marine Biology. They include:

- Microbiology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Fisheries and Aquaculture (What is Marine Biology?)
- Environmental Marine Biology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Deep-sea Ecology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Ichthyology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Marine Mammology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Marine Ethology (What is Marine Biology?)
- Climate change
- Pollution (toxicology, dumping, runoff, impact of recreation, blooms)
- Coral reefs
- Invasive species... (What is Marine Biology?)
Human health
- Air quality
- Dissolution of carbon dioxide... (What is Marine Biology?)
Sustainability and biodiversity
- Overfishing
- Endangered species
- Impacts on the food chain... (What is Marine Biology?)
Research and product development
- Pharmaceuticals
- Biomedical applications
- Alternate energy sources.... (What is Marine Biology?)
Also, believe it or not, there are different ways to study Marine Biology. They include:
- Trawling - has been used in the past to collect marine specimens for study, except that trawling can be very damaging to delicate marine environments and it is difficult to collect samples discriminately. However when used in the midwater environment, trawls can be every effective at collecting samples of elusive species with a wide migratory range. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Plankton nets - plankton nets have a very fine weave to catch microscopic organisms in seawater for study. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) - have been used underwater since the 1950s. ROVs are basically unmanned submarine robots with umbilical cables used to transmit data between the vehicle and researcher for remote operation in areas where diving is constrained by health or other hazards. ROVs are often fitted with video and still cameras as well as with mechanical tools for specimen retrieval and measurements. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Underwater habitats - the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) operates Aquarius
, a habitat 20
m beneath the surface where researchers can live and work underwater for extended periods. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Fiber optics - Fiber optic observational equipment uses LED light (red light illumination) and low light cameras that do not disturb deep-sea life to capture the behaviors and characteristics of these creatures in their natural habitat.(What is Marine Biology?)
- Satellites - are used to measure vast geographic ocean data such as the temperature and color of the ocean. Temperature data can provide information on a variety of ocean characteristics such as currents, cold upwelling, climate, and warm water currents such as the Gulf Stream. Satellites are also used for mapping marine areas such as coral reefs and for tracking marine life tagged with sensors to determine migratory patterns. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Sounding - hydrophones, the microphone's counterpart, detect and record acoustic signals in the ocean. Sound data can be used to monitor waves, marine mammals, ships, and other ocean activities. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Sonar - similar to sounding, sonar is used to find large objects in the water and to measure the ocean's depth (bathymetry). Sound waves last longer in water than in air, and are therefore useful to detect underwater echoes. (What is Marine Biology?)
- Computers - sophisticated computer technology is used to collect, process, analyze, and display data from sensors placed in the marine environment to measure temperature, depth, navigation, salinity, and meteorological data. NOAA implemented computer technology aboard its research vessels to standardize the way this data is managed. (What is Marine Biology?)

Endangered Species
Dear Reader,
Right now I am researching some endangered marine species. I
have found one website which is based off of the NOAA Fisheries: http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/pr/species/esa/
This website has endangered species that have categories
that include: Marine Mammals, Marine Turtles,
Marine & Anadromous Fish, Marine Invertebrates & Plants, Candidate
Species, and Marine Species Proposed for Listing, and Delisted Marine Species.

Reasearching....Reasearching....Reasearching.....
Dear Reader,
I have fished out two articles about Marine
Biology/Biologists. One of the websites that
I am thinking of using is:
It is a website mainly based around marine career fields
including: Marine Biology, Oceanology, Ocean Engineering, and other related
fields. The other website is a website
that is ALL about marine biology and the life that you may study:
There are probably a lot more of websites out there but
these are the ones that caught my eye.
Thanks,
Hope

Searching........Searching......Searching.........
Dear Reader,
I am looking for a website where I am going to create my
Marine Biology Research website. I am
using Bluefish and am using this website right now: http://www.w3schools.com/html/ which is a tutorial for making a HTML website. I feel that this will take a longer time then I imagined. I think I should look up facts about Marine Biology and put it in another Microsoft Word Document. Then I think that then when I get the website done, I will add the information later. So now I am looking for information about Marine Biology.
Thanks,
Hope

Indroduction to This Blog
Dear Reader,
This blog will be a follow-up to the website that I am creating on Marine Biology. Every week I will post on what has happened with my website and the progress I have made so far. I was assigned to pick a topic that interests me. Then you had to make a game (video, computer, etc.), website, a model, build something out of different material, and the list goes on and on.
I chose the topic marine biology and chose to create a website. I have been intrigued by the aquatic life since a young age. I love biology in general and I love dissecting and studying animals, especially marine and aquatic life. The catch is that I am afraid of being underwater with creatures. Oops! Although I have that fear of being underwater with animals, I am a fantastic swimmer and love to swim. The only reason I swim so much is because the pool where I usually swim in, has crystal clear water because of the overuse of chlorine. I have almost quenched that fear of being underwater by going to at least two-three aquariums. The aquariums include: The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. I have recently been to the Virginia Aquarium and have really quenched my fear so much that I have walked straight past a big wall of water and big fish without running away terrified and up to five minutes later, being able to walk past it calmly.
On the website I will research aspects of Marine biology, (the job, animals), and then inform the public about the endangered animals and what part humans have with these specific animals becoming extinct. The endangered animals that I know of are turtles, some whales, and some dolphins. I know how turtles are endangered although I don’t exactly know how different types of whales and dolphins are endangered. To make the website, I am thinking of using Html5 and am thinking of using Bluefish instead of Notepad. I am also concentrating on the Eastern Shore and Marine biology there because this is the area around where I live. I also want other students, who live in the Eastern Shore area, to learn more about the marine life in and around the Eastern Shore so they are more educated about marine life in our area.
Thanks for reading this first blog post and I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I will,
Hope Jones
