Endangered Species

Dear Reader,

Right now I am researching some endangered marine species. I have found one website which is based off of the NOAA Fisheries: http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/pr/species/esa/

This website has endangered species that have categories that include: Marine Mammals, Marine Turtles,   Marine & Anadromous Fish, Marine Invertebrates & Plants, Candidate Species, and Marine Species Proposed for Listing, and Delisted Marine Species.

I have fished out two articles about Marine Biology/Biologists. One of the websites that  I am thinking of using is:

It is a website mainly based around marine career fields including: Marine Biology, Oceanology, Ocean Engineering, and other related fields.  The other website is a website that is ALL about marine biology and the life that you may study:

There are probably a lot more of websites out there but these are the ones that caught my eye.

Dear Reader,

I am looking for a website where I am going to create my Marine Biology Research website.  I am using Bluefish and am using this website right now:  http://www.w3schools.com/html/  which is a tutorial for making a HTML website. I feel that this will take a longer time then I imagined. I think I should look up facts about Marine Biology and put it in another Microsoft Word Document. Then I think that then when I get the website done, I will add the information later. So now I am looking for information about Marine Biology.

Indroduction to This Blog

Dear Reader,

This blog will be a follow-up to the website that I am creating on Marine Biology. Every week I will post on what has happened with my website and the progress I have made so far. I was assigned to pick a topic that interests me. Then you had to make a game (video, computer, etc.), website, a model, build something out of different material, and the list goes on and on.

I chose the topic marine biology and chose to create a website. I have been intrigued by the aquatic life since a young age. I love biology in general and I love dissecting and studying animals, especially marine and aquatic life. The catch is that I am afraid of being underwater with creatures. Oops! Although I have that fear of being underwater with animals, I am a fantastic swimmer and love to swim. The only reason I swim so much is because the pool where I usually swim in, has crystal clear water because of the overuse of chlorine. I have almost quenched that fear of being underwater by going to at least two-three aquariums. The aquariums include: The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.  I have recently been to the Virginia Aquarium and have really quenched my fear so much that I have walked straight past a big wall of water and big fish without running away terrified and up to five minutes later, being able to walk past it calmly.

On the website I will research aspects of Marine biology, (the job, animals), and then inform the public about the endangered animals and what part humans have with these specific animals becoming extinct. The endangered animals that I know of are turtles, some whales, and some dolphins. I know how turtles are endangered although I don’t exactly know how different types of whales and dolphins are endangered. To make the website, I am thinking of using Html5 and am thinking of using Bluefish instead of Notepad. I am also concentrating on the Eastern Shore and Marine biology there because this is the area around where I live. I also want other students, who live in the Eastern Shore area, to learn more about the marine life in and around the Eastern Shore so they are more educated about marine life in our area.
